What is everyone running for tripods on their spotting scopes? 25-60 x 85mm kinda size with an angled eyepiece for the bench, mountain side or viewing the stars & moon from the deck? Orion stands seems half decent but I'd need a second stand to actually go hunting with..... I don't mind blowing reasonable $$ for a lifetime product. This is all just inter web browsing so any and all input is welcomed as the scope is at home and I had to fly into work.

Gitzo, manfrotto , outdoorsmans are all at the top of the heap. I'm running a slik for my razor and it's nice but I also have a neewer from Amazon that does everything it needs to and I was actually pleasantly surprised in the quality for the money.

I usually use a vortex summit with a monfroto video head attached but lately I've found that the original base plate from my Labradar with the video head attched is far better at the bench than the tripod was. It's rock steady and without tripod legs in the way it allows you to keep the scope close enough so that you barely have to break your hold to check your shot

I recommend the ShadowTech Pig-0311-G Field Tripod, which is a modified SLIK 700 aluminum tripod repurposed into a more multi-function field-oriented unit. This tripod will do anything you ask of it - as a shooting rest in conjunction with the HOG Saddle or PIG Saddle, as an Optics Mount for Spotting Scopes or Laser Range Finders, etc. It is a full-featured tripod for $229.95, and best of all it is sold by site sponsor Nordic Marksman (see banner at top of page). You can shop for a suitable Ball-Head and QD Mounts at the same time!
