What power spotting scope would I need for range use so I can see 223 on paper at 2 and 300yrds?

I have a 25X50 now but it's a older and low quality Tasco and it does not do it, I would think it would have maybe to do with the poor optics rather then power but not sure???

Thanks.

I have a 20x60x60 scope which I got online ( read cheap + probably Chinese ) which does the job very well. Some buddies use similar and none of us have any issues. It seems to be the consensus that something in excess of 36x is best for viewing the .223 calibre holes. While I have seen and been envious of, very expensive and super nice spotting scopes, it is my view ( and, of course, your mileage may vary ) that one is better off to save the big bucks for riflescopes.
