OK, I know this has been covered here before, but going through this thread, the post are rather old, or I can't find relevant info.

Anyway, I'm in the market for a new spotting scope that won't break the bank. (a FA-quing gust of wind blew mine off the bench and broke in half) Looking for something that I can actually see my impact of a .223/5.56 at 2-300m. I don't mind spending money on stuff, but don't want to fork out a jack load of cash for something of equal capabilities at a more palatable price. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Paul

Hey, I have Vortex Diamond Back 20 X 60X 85 that works great. Check Cabala's for pricing. 300m might be an issue seeing the hole from a 223, but no problem at 200m

I have been using a Kowa TSN-1 for over 20 years. I can see .30 cal holes in the target at 300 yards, but only when the conditions are perfect (sun behind the target) and when there is no mirage. Your best bet is to find a place that sells a lot of different kinds of scope and compare them side by side.

Swarovski ATS 80-20-60x
With its angled view the ATS 80 enables comfortable observation for hours. The 80 mm objective lens diameter provides higher detail recognition, while a wider exit pupil ensures brighter images and comfortable viewing even in poor lighting conditions.

Costly but I am very happy with it.

I own a Kowa TSN-661.
Pretty darn good money for something that one cannot really tell difference with a comparable Swarovski.
