Spotting Scopes Questions

I am buying either a Zeiss or Swarovski spotting scope. The question is to stay with a 15-45 power or go up to a 20-60 power?? I have heard that heat waves can somedays eliminate the extra power you get from the 60. Thoughts??

You will find that heat waves will affect both of them. I would go with the 20-60. I have a 15-45 and wish that I had a 20-60.It would be nice to have that extra power.

Id also take the 20-60 and do your spotting in the cooler parts of the day that is if your using it for hunting.
20-60 Swarovski....man that would be sweeeet

Not much difference on the lower end between the 15X-20X. When you crank it up on a hot day is were you will see the difference. There is a good chance that neither the 45X or 60X will be much good at long range with a heavy mirage. As you increase the power (zoom) of the eye piece you loose field of view.
