spotting scopes

Here's what I use.
It is a 1500mm Bausch and Lomb lens with a 330X eyepiece adapter!
The little 4X Bushnell on top is a spotter for the big scope.

It works great , you can see bullet holes aqt 500 in targets, and on the steel at 1K with no problem.

I lucked into it quite aa few years ago ( 15?) for $275 at a gunshow.
The stand is a Freeland.
Here we have it set up for the "short course" ( 400 yards) at the outpost range
with Old badger banging the steel withh his iron sighted Vostok from the patented "old guy sitting position"!:D

Spotting scopes

Had most of them save your money quit worrying about your budget you just have to save a little longer it is like I tell guys when they are looking @ Binoculars if it cost you 7-8 for your rifle scope it will be the same price for the other eye & low & behold it is the same price as good binoculars. Save your money up.

Rick, I've had the B&L Elite 15-45X60 for going on 10 years now, and for the money it's hard to beat. At the higher powers it honestly doesn't compare to the high end Euro stuff, but for most of what we do it's fine. Only when looking at sheep across mountains do I wish I had a better scope.

Actually, I "wish" I had a better scope often, just can't convince myself it's worth it for the limited amount of alpine hunting I do.

This from a guy with Leica binos. THOSE are worth it.

Anyone here use the Nikon 15-45x 60 RA II scope? How are Nikon scopes in general? They retail locally around the $400 mark.

Johan, last I heard it is the SAME scope as the Bausch and Lomb. Made in the same plant with a different label. Although i thought Nikon marketed it as a 15-47 or such so that may be a different scope.

I'm trying to decide between a Kowa TSN-601 with 25x LER eyepiece and the Leupold Goldring 12-40x60mm. The Kowa has a 32mm eye relief VS 30mm for the Leupold. The Kowa has a 2.5mm exit pupil, the leupold has a exit pupil of 4.8mm at 12x and 1.5mm at 40x. The Kowa is angled the leupold is strait. I can't decide, I figure the leupold will be a better hunting scope where as the Kowa might be the better target scope. Any thoughts?
