SPR Build: Optic Choice

I don't think anyone in this thread is suggesting you NEED a 10 power scope at 300m (hell, Irons will do); we are suggesting the 2.5x10 offers alot of flexability for those that are setting up an SPR. If a shooter is off the bipod comparing the 1x4 NXS and the 2.5x10 NXS both at full power @ 300m the differentiation of the two is significant...I know I have both.;)

Roger that.... I guess as an Infantry type, I see the capability of a true 1x optic as too valuable for close quarters work to give it up for increased magnification.

I suppose it's just my opinion from military work, doesn't mean it's the solution for everyone's rig!

There is nothing wrong with your thoughts. Just depends on your application. Why variable scopes have become so popular.

for run and gun, low mag makes sense.

For Long distance precision, you can't hit what you can't see.

I have an NXS 2.5-10x24 on my AR. It's absolutely beastly at 6 power out at medium-longish ranges.
Offers a very fine image and easy discernment. I quite enjoy it anyways. ;)

Just got my 2.5-10x24 from Hirsch.

My First High-End Glass, super crisp image - I likey very muchy :)

One thing I noticed, all the literature I read said the FC2 Reticle had a center dot and circle that illuminated. The other Reticle lines did not light up.
On mine, all the lines illuminate....weird?

Now I just wait for my McGowen Barrel to show up and I can put my AR together.

My fc2 reticle (1-4x) illuminates only the 2 moa centre dot and the 10 moa surrounding circle.

Here is my Reticle.............

I am also having a concern about the sizing...

It is supposed to be a 1.5moa dot and 10moa circle.
It does not look like the diagrams online or in the brochure.
Does that mean all the measurements are wrong too?

Do they all look like this?

Your reticle looks nothing like what is shown for the FC-2 on the NF site. It almost looks like a cross between the NP-2DD and the FC-2.

Sure you didn't get a cheap chinese knockoff? I heard they're just as good.

I think the FC-2 reticle was revised by Nightforce at one point, and the 2.5-10 and 1-4 are slightly different.

I have an FC-2 in one of my 2.5-10x24s and it looks like the lower image. The reticle you have is hopefully an updated version of this reticle (though I do not know why NF did not update their website).

And to the OP, NF 1-4 or 2.5-10 are great - just decide how much magnification you need and you are good to go. If you got cash to burn, buy a Premier or S&B. Or, given that this thread started last year, tell us what you got :D

I have both the NF 1-4x32 and the 2.5-10x32. Both are great scopes. I prefer the 1-4 on a carbine and the 2.5-10 on my SPR build.
