Spraying VZ black

I went with Armacoat

Duracoat works as well.

Melamine paint - need a brush but it's very well-wearing and it drys smooth because of the elasticizer

Not black but you can get any colour

I wouldn't recommend it. It might look decent at first but it wouldn't stand up to the elements. It would peel off the barrel from the heat, chip off other parts over time or be chipped off if it were to be hit.

what color are those handguards? looks awesum!!

Armacoat for sure, cheap and guaranteed to stand up to the elements! I've got a soft spot for BLACK rifles. The blue/grey never really did it for me...

I never bothered to bead blast it, I just cleaned it up, disassembled it a bit, and sprayed away.

Thanks,

The colour is a light desert tan with green undertones. Hard to tell from pictures but I chose the colour shade so that it complemented the factory metal paint colour. As I said, that's the beauty of using something like this - infinite possibilities colour-wise. And it's durable...

But if you're wanting to paint the metal I'd go with something else - melamine isn't meant for that sort of application.

Hey, Mopar guy, where did you get that great looking furniture?

NickHTK, It's a "real wood" parts kit bought from Wolverine for about $130. The stock is an AK stock I've modified to fit the VZ with a dremel and bench grinder. I refinished all the wood with a light blonde stain and the VZ with Armacoat. All at your house gunsmithing...

It's a real head turner at the range, and I now think it looks awesome, people are always asking me about my "AK47"...
