You’ve shot rifles with poorly designed stocks then.
Could be.
What’s it do on a properly designed stock?

We'll be able to get the licence one minute after midnight tonight.
The tags when the office is back open.. Just checked and they are open for regular hours.

[/QUOTE]Hi Chuck. Could you provide anymore information on that stock ? I think it’s a beauty !
Thanks

It is a stock built by D’Arcy Echols that McMillan is reproducing in fibreglass or carbon fibre. Here is the cheek piece. This is another rifle of mine in the same stock.

The 8mm is interesting but sadly seems to be rather short in terms of projectile choice. .338 has a massive range of projectiles on the other hand. Like the 8x57 ballistics but not so much the bullet choice

No, the 7.62X57 is the 8X57 necked down to .308... this one with a 10 twist barrel. I custom ordered the reamer from PTG, and they had no record of one ever being made so when they asked for a cartridge name, I slapped on my handle... not exactly Townsend Whelen or P.O Ackley, but heck, why not?
Id be interested in building one myself in the near future. Sounds like something fun to play with. Did you find your self a 308 barrel or use a blank?
Keep us updated on how load development goes for the two cartridges.
Re: no 8mm bullets
They make ttsx and accubonds for killing and interlocks/privi for killing and practice not sure what else a guy would need.
Hey, Daniel... The donor rifle was a Ruger M77 Mark II 6.5X55, the barrel is a McGowen #2 10 twist .308" @ 22" length. The reamer is from PTG registered as "7.62X57 Hoytcanon." I am heading to my bush range tomorrow with ladder testing loads using 180 SST's... but have several boxes of 180 NBT's that I will be hunting with.
I guess I’m wanting to know who is D’Arcy Echols is ? Did he fist make the custom stock and now McMillan produces it ? What is that particular model you have ? Sorry I don’t know much about custom stocks or custom rifles .Thanks !

Is there a .338 x 57 Hoytcannon as well? That might be nifty bear medicine...
