Spring bear hunt in Ontario re-instated?

They're still denying that the population has increased since the spring bear hunt was cancelled. The Spring hunt probably won't be reinstated till bears get so overpopulated they start snatching peoples kids and pets from there backyards or something like that. Also bear cubs stay with their mothers for 2 years so it doesn't make a difference if we hunt them in the spring or fall. The Anti's just kept whining about it so the government took away the spring bear hunt and it probably won't come back but we can all hope.

It was the Tories that took away the spring hunt in the first place, so booting the Liberals in favour of the Tories is in no way a guarantee of a re-instated spring hunt (they would be admitting they f@cked up in the first place). There was a reason given for the cancelation of the spring hunt, too many orphaned cubs from hunters shooting sows, but as Bear Slayer pointed out the cubs stay with momma for 2 yrs so this argument is flawed.

BTW, there was a reported sighting of a black bear near Fife road in Guelph yesterday. They figure it was the same bear that was seen earlier in the KW/Cambridge area.

It is if you get your butt in there now and start working with them. We learned THAT one with the federal cpc and the alliance before it. It was the tories who took away many of our gun rights too - but it'll be the tories who give 'em back. Lesson learned - make sure you remember it before election time rolls around.

I won't be holding my breathe waiting for a spring bear hunt in Ontario.

Well if you won't work for it, you likely won't get it. Freedom's never free :)

But if it's not that important to you, there ARE indeed lots of other good reasons to vote tory :)

"Freedom is never free". There are different forms of freedom. A few years back I got tired of other people making huge profits from my efforts while I got paid a pitance, so I quit and started a small renovations contracting business. As a bonus, if I want to take a day to go hunting or fishing, the boss is usually agreeable. On the downside, I do all the estimating, sales, scheduling and physical labour (my wife does the book keeping) and the work tends to be boom or bust. I had work lined up for tommorrow but it got pushed back till Monday, so now trying to get something lined up for tommorrow on short notice (waiting for a call back right now). I guess I could go canvassing for a political party, but that don't pay the mortgage. Pounding the pavement or phone lines trying to get some work might.

I understand and respect what your saying Foxer, but I just have too much to deal with right now to take on anything else.

It happens. We all do what we can where we can, can't do more than that.

But give someone else in ontario who's a gun owner with a little more free time a kick in the boys and put him to work :) hehehe

Hey - we've done well so far in the last year in the gun community and i know everyone worked hard or dug deep to help make that happen. We can't all be fighting all the time (would be nice but reality is different). If not this time, next time for bear. And maybe some of the others will pick up the fight.
