The locals would kill the works of 'em, have a big barbecue, and the word would never get out! (Bobcaygeon full of hunters, and quite a few poachers from what I hear)

No, don't leave the guns at home. Get a publicity thing going NOW, so that the powers that be have time to react. Get a good game plan on WHY there SHOULD be a spring hunt.
And then tell them that everyone in Ontario is going hunting on Sunday May 15th, tag or no tag, so you better start sellign tags. And if you arrest one, you must arrest all, etc..that sort of stuff.

Our gov't would rather arrest you than change anything in the laws.
They must spend more money on busting poachers than opening a season for the lawful hunter so it just makes more sense to them.
Nothings gonna change while we have a liberal gov't in Ontario so no sense gettin yourselves all worked up, wanna get the spring bear back, get rid of the liberals. Of course you'll have to talk 1,000,000 imported granola eaters into changing there minds while were at it.

Now that is the kinda thinking that gets things done
. Its too bad though that the MNR is willing to let the residents take care of this problem with the SSS method instead of allowing a spring season again.Plus the MNR gets the odd fine and asset collection from those stupid enough to brag about the half dozen bears they killed on thier porch.
