Spring Bear - Western Quebec CGNs

Looking to find a way to hunt western Quebec for bear. I used to always hunt em here in Ontario in the spring till they shut that down.

Any Quebec contacts out there for me (nearer Ontario border preferred)?

I hunt over my own baits here in the fall so I know about that routine and would be happy pitching in with the daily work etc. An "Economy Hunt" is pretty much a necessity for my situation right now. I have all my own equipment - bait pails, treestands etc.etc.

Any contacts or leads or ideas or advice for me. Open to suggestions?

I would Also be interested. I went In Abitibi 2 years ago (very close to ON), quite a few down there. I have a friend there that's familiar with the surroundings and maybe we could even crash there (i'm also looking for economical here . The way we did it though was just driving up north, they often are seen on side roads where the cut are fresh.

You guys should go west to Manitoba.........our bears are bigger. No I am not kidding.

I live near Riding Mountain National Park..........highest density of black bears in North America. Since I moved here my wife and I have shot one bear each. Both have skulls over 20 and both squared out at 7 1/2 feet.

You can just buy a non-resident bear tag and go hunting......no guide needed.

Is there enough "crown land" in Manitoba to hunt without anyone's permission. Where I live there is mega crown land. It's cool that non-residents don't have to use a licensed guide if U want a "do-it-yourself" hunt.

That Manitoba idea really appeals to me except for the distance to travel ($gas). On that account I'm hoping for something similar in western Quebec.

Is it really true that a resident hunter in Quebec can host a non-resident? If that's so what is entailed in "hosting" an "out-of-province" hunter I wonder. Do you actually have to party hunt together?
