Hey guys, Im looking forward to my first spring time hunt and im wondering what/when is legal to shoot and where to find them. Ive read through the AB regulations but they are kind of confusing. I'm in northern alberta so if you dont mind sharing some info on different areas to hunt, either through this thread or a PM, i would be really grateful. Either way, goodluck to everyone heading out!

No spring game bird anywhere. How are the chicks to hatch and grow if you shoot off the adults in the spring? Same for most game. Have to keep populations at a healty level and the only way is to let the young grow to be able to fend for themselves. City boy by any chance?

Saskatchewan has a Spring goose season. City Boy by any chance ? ;)

We have a spring snow goose hunt here too, but the geese are on their way to nesting area so not exactly the same thing. Over populated in any case. By game bird maybe I should have said upland game.

There is a spring turkey season in Alberta as well but it is a draw with lots of priority required. We should have a spring snow goose season in 2015. So for this year, you are pretty well stuck with black bears.

Didn't see a single gopher last year on either of our farms - were thick on both places the year before; they all winter killed.
Doubt this winter was much easier on them...so don't think we'll be seeing any gophers again this year : (

Spring Bear opens April 1, but not much sense going out till well into May, my rule of thumb. Winter being as ####ty as it has been, I'm going out early, just for the fresh air and exercise. :)
