Spring Wild Turkey

Hi there
I've got a question in regards to wild turkey spring season,
Little confusion with the start date.
My Ihunter app for my IPhone is showing start date as 25 of April, in the same time on the website we got another date such April 27 !!!
Can anyone enlighten me?
 
yep opens on Monday april 27th. always opens on the Monday following the 25th if the 25th falls on the weekend. sucks I know, I would like to take my kids with me.........
 
this was a bird I took last year a couple of weeks after my foot surgery that's why I have an arctic shield boot warmer on my right foot in the pic...... couldn't wear any footwear.

hahaha, I would but have the father-in-law that already asked if he could go. he hasn't bought a license and come with me since we bought our farm 5 years ago......... the first bird is his I guess....... I'm way too nice!

No worries :) I don't have my hunting licence yet but I'm taking the course in mid may. Hope you and the father-in-law have a safe and successful hunt!
 
In Ontario the season opener is the 25th UNLESS the 25th falls on a Saturday or Sunday then the Monday following the 25th is the opener. I have been told by the powers that be it is a safety thing as a weekend opener would be chaos in their eyes.

No problem . I'm not all that excited it's supposed to rain Monday here. I went and put out my double bull the other day just in case it rains, glad I did.
 
My theory is that they changed the opening day to Monday vice Saturday is that fewer Turkey hunters can get Monday off so they'll be less turkeys killed vs the number of licenses purchased.
They seem to want everyone to buy a license but don't want anyone to kill a turkey. The differance between Saturday and Monday can't possibly make a difference in the eco/bio management of the wild turkey population. Yea Big Brother.
 
here in southern Ontario trout season opens on the last Saturday in april and this is the same weekend as turkey season would be this year so thy move turkey season to keep everybody safe and not have everyone out on the same weekend ..D

they always have the next years opener under the current years opener for turkey season. last years regs had it listed the same way. a lot of people just skim through and don't notice the following years opener...... I've done it myself
I was in buying my licenses the other day and there were 5 of us there at the same time picking up licenses and 2 other guys thought it opened today........ I heard a shot in the distance this morning while walking the dog at 6:00 and I'm assuming it's someone that thought it opened today, but I could be wrong and just a farmer doing pest control???
 
Just did the course in Ottawa. Fellow giving the course said they hold off opening day on the weekend cause it coincides with the trout opener. On another note saw a small flock of about a dozen birds on the way to the course as well as two loners oh also a field filled with what must have been over a thousand snow geese. No time for an Ontario hunt but maybe here at home. Heard a gobbler last year plus my Britt found a wing feather on a walk this past week so they're in the area.
