First Morning was a bust (Tried the jake fan strutter with a submissive hen, Turkeys went the complete opposite direction and didnt respond to calls (Only two shootable turkeys on the property I hunt, 1 Jake 1 Smaller Tom) )

Went out on Wednesday, thought I had the Turkeys patterned on which way they go after they fly down, They went the complete opposite way, Of course.

Decided to move the blind to the Fence line of the other property the Turkeys went to (Owner didn't give me permission to hunt it). Tried some calling with a Hen decoy, Mr. Tom gobbled once then shutup.

Then I see the Jake come sneaking in, While I was concentrating on him, I looked over and saw the Two Hens and Mr Tom on the property I can shoot him, I now Know where they cross onto the property I hunt, It was approx 75 Yards from my Blind :(. Mr. Tom kept looking at my decoy, but in the end chose the 2 hens.

Luckily the Jake decided to try and sneak in to get some lovin while the Tom was away, didn't end to well for him shot at approx 25 yards. I'll take a meat bird any day :). Shot him just before 9 am, only my third turkey in the 3 years ive been hunting (First year took a huge tom and a jake, last year I missed a bird :()

Think ill let the tom breed and only go for one turkey this year. This way hopefully my strutter combo will work next year ;).

Pictured with my one year old son for size comparison ;) ( No he didnt come with me, blind is just setup to dry :p )

Awesome job guys, especially getting the kids involved.

Very nice bird Fergie and you must have a good setup to be reaching out that far, well done. Pure class with a citori that nice Hoyt!

Well after four years of deer hunting and this is my third year out for turkey I have become accustom to tag soup. Starting to feel like a terrible hunter. Well. Yesterday was a day to remember. Three deer and four fawns all grazing at 40 to 60 yards. My decoys ( at 10 yards) brought in two large toms (sadly the largest tom stayed at about 80 yards) also had 9 hens and a small jake inside 100 yards. I finally harvested my first bird! Took the larger of the two at my decoys. Paced off at 12 yards. Weighing 26 lbs with 9.5" beard. Heck of a first bird I tell you what. Took it with my late seventies stevens77 pump loaded with 3" #4 winchester double X. Off to canadian tire later today to buy another tag! I would post a picture but I don't have a picture hosting account.

congrats on your first bird. it is very addictive, hunting turkey's........ I love it

I love it! So much fun to watch the bush wake up from around you. Farmers spreading crap there the next couple days... don't know how that will effect the hunting.... or taste of meat.
