I just acquired a nice springfield 1863 carbine that was converted to a shotgun back in the day. the gun is in pretty nice shape and will be used mostly for display. Question, for the era, what accessories would normally accompany this type of weapon, if anyone knows. (powder horns? etc)
thanks!

Congratulations on your new acquisition. I think this thread would be greatly improved with a photo... As far as accessories: A musket cap tool, ball bag, powder flask, shot flask, short starter, nipple wrench, ball puller, cleaning rod, and cleaning jag. Then some .570 balls, patches, musket caps. And if you want to fire shot: 24 gauge wads and some appropriate sized shot. Oh! and don't forget the powder....

Cheers. Steve.
