Springfield 1903 info plus value?

Hello,

Recently got this rifle. Was curious if anyone could tell me when it was made and what model it is plus anything important. Could find alot of info about value in the U.S. but what is its ballpark value in Canada?

What is the bore condition? Date and manufacturer marking on the barrel? Is the buttplate stamped, milled, smooth and/or checkered?
 
From the serial the receiver seem to be from 1934. Need to look at the date of the barrel. Depending on a lot a factors (bore condition, counterbored, etc..), a post 800 000 serial number 1903 in military configuration between 500 and 900$
 
In that condition, I would agree with those estimates, more or less, but Exc 1903's go well north of $900. I wouldn't let mine got for $1500 and the JRA clones coming out now through Wantsall are more than that! YMMV.
 
Hey guys thanks for the responses. I looked the rifle over again and didn't see any dates on the rifle. Unless it is in a less obvious place ie under the stock. Although I did find some other markings on the front barrel band. The guy I bought it off said "The bore is shiny, good condition, i’d say a 7/10 maybe 7,5). The metal is great, no pitting, a nice dark patina." But I am no bore expert but there is not any pitting for sure. Not sure how worn out the barrel is. Thinking about getting it checked by the gunsmith but not sure if I want to keep the rifle.

Barrel date is 5-11? If so, the barrel is a lot older than the receiver.
Maybe the bore needs a good cleaning. As is, I wouldn't call it shiny.
Overall the rifle looks to be in good condition. It really boils down to whether it is worth the asking price to you.
 
FWIW, it's not uncommon to see early barrels on 1930's receivers because in the 30's as a make-work project, SA was slowly replacing low-number receivers on otherwise decent rifles as they came in for maintenance. When the war broke out, they stopped doing that and just issued the low-number rifles as-is.
 
The rifle has a nickel steel receiver which is hard, strong and slick. Is the top of the bolt handle root stamped with an "N.S.". If so, it would be a nickle steel bolt which is appropriate to the receiver.

I agree that the barrel was probably salvaged from another rifle and re-used in an arsenal rebuild program at some point. It would be interesting to run a muzzle and throat gauge in it to check the degree of wear. A lot of M1903 barrels tend to be well worn and pitted as a result of extensive shooting and corrosive primed ammo. I think $1500 is a pretty optomistic price, but good luck.
