This piece is an inheritance of mine, obviously been sportorized at some point. Would like to know more about the rifle, not much info on the forums here about them and if it has any value besides the sentimental value that it carries. Stock isn't comfortable and length of pull is terrible, may upgrade the stock if possible in the future.

cheers,

Early receiver, but JUST above the 800,000 cutoff so maybe read up on the heat treat risks with the early guns, though I think yours is OK.

In terms of stocks, Boyds makes nice stocks for these. In the USA, some very nice sporting rifles are based on the 1903 action so they make decent drop-in stocks for them.

That's a converted military barrel, but if the bore is bad, any good gunsmith can re-barrel it for a price.

As it sits, it's not worth a lot, max $500 for the receiver, bolt and bottom metal. But there's no reason it would not make a nice hunting rifle with mild to moderate loads in the 150gn range.

They are easy to drill/tap for scope also.

Restoring as a military M1903 would be expensive and likely not a good return on investment what with the modified barrel.
