Has anyone had any experience with Springfield Armory The Saint.. Have been looking at the S&W M&P Sport II and the Norinco CQA. I had decided on the S&W over the Norinco when I noticed the Springfield Armory AR15.. Almost double the price, but is it worth the extra money?

Since no one responded, my opinion is that the Sporter 2 is so cheap because of over inventory. It is the buy of the century.

So does anyone have any experience with the Springfield AR15? Own one or shot one? Like I said they are about 2x the price of the S&W Sport II, but still within my budget.

From the specs and reviews on other forums it is another hobby grade AR with some window trim. Not worth the price..

If you want it,buy it your not getting twice the gun for twice the price buy the s&w and spend the rest on ammo or optics or something.

S&W Sport II and buy optic and the other money on ammo and then furniture and then more ammo....

It's a great deal for what it is and it's got great reviews. #1 selling gun in USA in 2016.

Based almost solely on price alone. The components are far from high end or desirable.

Please explain why you believe this? I'm not a s&w fan boy and I dont even own one, but I would bet my nuts that it will run hard with the rest of them.
You are just one of the most outspoken CGN members who calls anything below the price of a DD crap so I'm interested as to how u based your opinion

Compare the specs of the sport II to a properly built milspec rifle. The material is sub standard, the barrel contour is worthless, carbine gas on a 16" gun is dumb, the finish is a cheap alternative to proper chrome lining. There's no indication what the bolt or carrier are made of and no mention of HPT or MPI being done. Th 1:9 twist isn't the biggest issue but it is not the most versatile twist either. It's a USA made AR which is a good thing, but it is not a high quality AR.

Compare it to everything else in it's price range

-The material is 7075 T6 which is pretty much industry standard
-Barrel contour is useless? Please explain why this matters on a civilian rifle?
-Carbine gas on a 16" CARBINE (yes the a 16" ar15 is in fact a carbine) is pretty common across the board. Nothing wrong with it what so ever
-Bolt is marked MPI...carrier and key are chromed lined

While i do agree that it is not a high end AR15 and doesnt compare to the likes of CC, DD, Noveske etc..., it is a phenomenal deal at 700$ and will pretty much do as its designed without blowing up. Is it a battle worthy rifle, no probably not but does that even matter? This rifle gets people into the AR15 game at a price comparable to Norinco. Despite your opinions on it, it is a quality AR.

What a piece of junk!!!

I am glad I did my engineering school when I was young. Grant me the ability to tell the difference between opinion and credible opinion.

Hail Meta 101 and 102. Understanding what "harding" means on phrase diagrams vs "finishing"! If I randomly pull some steel names out, I doubt most people can tell what it is suitable for gun making or not. If you can't tell, how can you say it is 'substandard'?

My opinion is that the Sporter is the best buy of the century. I tell all the new shooters I run into it is the "deal".

Yes the receiver materials are correct. barrel steel is not.

A medcon barrel offers no performance advantage and only adds weight.

Carbine gas systems are over gassed, a lot. A 16" barrel can comfortably run a mid length gas system which reduces wear on parts and felt recoil while adding additional handguard length for those who prefer to grab the rifle further out.

The bolt is marked, was that individually tested or batch tested? What about HPT?

Chrome key and carrier are great, but chrome chamber and bore are missing.

I will say it again. The sport II isn't the worst AR out there, but it is far from being a high end quality AR. It is a hobby gun that isn't absolutely crap.
