did you ask the french testers or is it croat propaganda? in 2015 the vhs-d1 (version offered for the trial test) was not in service anywhere.
despite fn herstal appealed the 416 won: barrel will be built in france and the cost of one unit of 416 was the equivalent of 6 magazines for the famas ... or 3 firing pin-extractor assembly system (they had a life of 3000 shots) ...
i will not trust croats to build firearms: i will trust them for the fighting spirit ...
the reason for the 416 selected: it was already in many special forces units (ground air and marine) (the marines commando had the hk and selected on their own the 416 and they re using hk handgun as well) with sucess and the g36 was issued to the police nationale and gendarmerie ... gign had that 416 as well before the outcome of the competition ... and also cemat/dga (entity doing the selection does not trust croats industry can handle the demand and the support).
it is a little more complex than just hd telling they finished second ... cemat/dga never issued the level for each firearms tested only the winner selected was giving the name....
but like everything if this is what you want you should get but do not use the wrong message for it ...
Wonder what the price point will be? Ergonomically it looks awful compared to a X95.
If it competes price wise to the T97 then it might be a good option but I can't see this being less than 2k. I think I'll save my monopoly money and splurge on the B&T.

they re at usd 1200 so i wont see the price of a t97 here. certainly between the t97 and tavors. if it ever come here.
