I may eventually consider replacing the Chu stock on my M14, and I am wondering if a springfield armoury walnut stock will fit. I am also wondering how much I can expect for pay for one as well.

Minor fitting may be required. I had one, the steel liners swapped perfectly, but the top right surface needed some removal of wood to have the receiver sit flat. The challenge is getting someone to ship one from the States to Canada.

Ask if a company can cut a stock into two parts so each part costing under 100 U.S. Dollars and then you can glue it together. :)

Its called an m14 rifle part and they won't ship. you would be better off getting an m14 wood stock here and using it.

No a Springfield Armory Stock is not a M14 part .The walnut stocks that SA uses are made by BOYD and the are not inletted for the selector and they are not M14 stocks they are for the M1A .
The bonus is that you will not have the unsightly hole on the right side of your stock !
Jim at Dupage trading had some seconds from Boyd for $30 or so . I do not know if he ships to Canada or not .

Boyds occaisionally has discontinued or scratch and dent specials that come in under $100, but no M1A last time I looked (did have a couple of Garand stocks). It pays to check their website once in a while.

I can put you in touch with a gentleman who had original M14 walnut and birch, regular and thick ones. I got mine for $140 (if I remember correctly) in birch (lighter in colour than walnut but stronger). The stock fit my chi-com M14 like a glove. All I did was the popsickle trick and shoots nice without any problems. PM me for his info. I don't know if he's got anything left but he had a few.

A little sandpaper and wood oil, then it is better than a new one. Thanks for a good tip :)
