Springfield, Famae or Keltec, thoughts?

I own neither :( but im definitely shooting for a M1A NM, when the time comes. Those guns just have SO MUCH CLASS & history, my opinion the best looking firearms currently in existence.

Id second Onetwentyish on the SG 542, the fit, finish and all around build quality on the Famea's is far below par considering the price tag on them. The only time ive ever seen one fire, was at a public range, some Native boy walked up to the shooting line with a 542 slung on his shoulder, and a torn, but doubled up safeway bag full of .308 ammo in hand.... he pulled out a few preloaded mags, emptyed them doing tactical drills into a dirt bank until the gun jammed.... he beat on it, then grab his sh!t and walked away lol

I love my RFB it may be heavy but you can't tell when it's shouldered, all the weight sits so far inboard it's pretty easy to shoot off hand. I've never adjusted my gas system. Not sure what all this gas system adjusting for different loads is all about, my understanding is that it's not necessary to adjust unless you are going suppressed. Mine has been 100% reliable over about 500 rounds. However some people have a hard time with the bullpup design so maybe try one out at the range first. I've consistently hit an 11" steel plate at 600 with it. That's good enough for me, it's a keeper.

the gas system in the kaltec need to be finly tunned.

Over gas and it breaks the guns, it will crack the receiver and start to peen the internals, under gas it gets stoppages

Basicaly to tune for each load or brand you do the fallowing

1)Crank the gas all the way down, then crank it all the way up, figure out what half is (different gens have different amounts)

2) start there, fire 5 rounds, if it cycles no jam turn it down 5 clicks, if it fails to feed turn it up 5 clicks.

3)Repeat step 2 untill

A)if turning it down 5 clicks causes a stopage on the 5 rounds
B)turning 5 clicks, it feeds fine for all five rounds

4)A) if turning it down, once you get a failure to feed, turn it up one click and retest, repeat untill no failures to feed, then add one click
B) if you have turn it up, once you have no failures to feed, turn it down one click at a time until you get a failure to feed, then turn it up 2 clicks

the end result should be that your gas system is 1 or 2 clicks above the "failure to feed" point.
you need to do this for every ammo you shoot to avoid feed failures or damage to the gun.

on average it takes around 50 rounds, I've had to use as many as 80 though.
