I just bought a Springfield Loaded model . Tried it out and loved everything about it , Except the full length rod . you have to take out with a allen key , which sucks if your out in the field and need to field strip it down to the barrel . Here is the question can you replace it and get one that you don`t need a allen wrench for . any help would be great pm me or email me . Joe

Try removing the slide, allow the rear of the rod to ride over the link to relieve some of the spring pressure, remove the bushing and then the rod and barrel.

I see no use for the Full Length Guide Rod (FLGR) but on the other hand if it keeps you amused I guess it has a purpose. Get rid of the damned thing and replace it with the original recoil spring guide, recoil spring, and plug. Regards, Richard:D

If you need to take it appart and dont have an allen key just shoot your gun more, it WILL come loose eventually. :D I have a Loaded Parkerized and while I have had no issues getting with the FLGR I plan to get a GI rod and plug.

Cheers.

I had a wilsons 2 piece rod a few years ago, hated it,it was forever coming apart after a few rounds. If you want to stick with a FLGR,get a one piece rod.I have both SVI and STI rods

Theres lots of debate as to whether you need a FLGR,I like them in that the slide cycles much more smoothly with the rod in and theres more uniform compression of the recoil spring.I also like the bit of extra weight up front of the gun which I like
