Springfield M-14 ?

Learned alot here so far, so it sounds like getting another Norc and if it wears out or breaks get another one and still be further ahead.

Have seen many of the same issues with out of the box sproingfields as well.
A new in the box chinese M14S rifle (not a polytech) according to many U.S. sites has an unfired value of 1200.00 USD
Norc oprods are arguably BETTER than most usgi and springfield op rods as they are ONE PIECE forged
Springfield receivers are KNOWN to be out of spec to G.I. machining measurements/tolerances.

each "brand" has it's issues. I buy my norcs for the receivers, barrels and oprods... for 399 ish... a freakin steal of a bargain. I choose to swap all other parts out to G.I. but that's just me.
what makes a 2000.00 out of the box springfield better than my USGI dressed norc (cost 1050.00 ALL in and has a match chamber)

bottom line..... buy what ever makes you happy

In 40 years of shooting I have never seen such. Norc M14S/M305 are the worst incredible POS I have ever seen. Not one gun in the industry does have such issues.

You must have bought one assembled on a friday afternoon:p...

...I've yet to have any problems with any of my Norcs.

If you want to waste money on an M1A, well go right ahead, I DID and regret it because, like I said previously, it doesn't shoot any better than my Norcs.

Plan B get an original Harley, I meant Springfield Garand! In .308 or .30-06 :)

I think these go for $1200 or there is lots on the E&E for $600-800 mark or less.

The first post here was to be informed for a M1A until some asshats start to bash in favor for their f%@?%n Norcs.

Hey 8ball...lighten up!....if you don't like Norc rifles...don't buy one! If you want to hate them, that's fine...but no reason to get uptight because other guys like the ones they have or have customised...

I don't hate Norcs, I had two. One bad and one excellent that I just sold on this board two weeks ago. The gun was very solid and well fitted. The thing is that it is always a small percentage of Norcs owners coming onto a M1A thread to bash about M1A and talk about their Norcs that they are soooo gooood. What is the point? Are they frustrated or what? Such behavior only separate us in two distinc groups and that just pisses me off. If someone is happy with it's Norc good for him. He should share his knoweldge instead. We are all in the shooting sport and we sould be interdependent.

My 2¢

just a quick peek through the battle rifle forum will also show you that the m14s is by far more popular and more widely owned by canadians, is it availability, is it price? or is it that for 2000 plus yer just not gettin that much more for your money than the 399 rifle. An important point to raise to someone who wants a non restricted springfield "m14"
but as 8ball says.... it's just a crappy norc.... and I don't want to offend the "small percentage" of m1a springfield lovers out there :runaway: :runaway:

I have several of both (M1As and M14Ss) with an LRB on the way. I have to confess that the fininsh on the springfields is quite a bit nicer....range report comparing all three to come as soon as my LRB arrives.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand. I just posted a genuine springfield for sale in the equipment exchange.

Brobee

let's agree that any m14 type rifle is a good rifle hehehe

I was coppin a feel of a springield socom 2 in a TROY mcs stock the other day.... mighty fine piece of hardware :D

hey brobee.... the LRB , what barrel does that have? I was thinking of picking up a standard length chrome lined criterion LRB .... same animal?
