I remember a couple of months ago a NIB M1A Loaded Walnut was about $2,299.00...I check Ellwood Epps site yesterday, and is now listed at $2,947.19. WTF:confused:, and that's with synthetic stock, walnut is more.

3K plus tax is F*CKED, how could a person NOT look at the Norinco M14 for $500....I must say though, they sent me some pics of the M1A Loaded Walnut, and it is one of the most beautiful rifles I have ever seen in my life.

Should have bought one last year, but my Norinco M14 has never failed me, and I still love it:rockOn:

WEll, just ad 25% which is the increase in the exchange rate and $2900 seems about right

No, it HAS to be something more than exchange...

...I purchased one before the Canadian dollar made it's big jump, you know back when it was about 60¢ on the dollar and a standard M1A cost me $2195 - the Fully Loaded was going for $2455.

I'm just going by your statement above. You say "a couple months ago" well, that is likely to have been something purchased when the dollar was at par. The dollar has been trading at a 21% - 25% premium since after christmas.

Although, it could be inflation, ie: the gas in the truck that delivered it, etc.

If its real, on the shelf, and you can touch it you might want to think about buying it

...while you still can.

Same goes for bullets.

So why is it for $1500 I can buy a "scary evil black army rifle" and yet a "nice innocent semi-auto" non-restricted rifle I need $2900. This really does not make much sense to me. Course in the US they about $700 which really confuses me you would think the difference should stay about the same. Putting the rifle at around $2200

BTW currently a used one in excellent condition at PD enterprises for $1995

Just wish I had the money look at the bottom of the page.

I am not sure if you're talking about a Springfield M1a here...

It would be EXTREMELY hard to find a USED springfield in the US for $700 right now. It would be hard to find a used one under a thousand right now. I do know a guy who saw one at a gun show for $900 a few days ago and didn't buy it...most of the Americans I know cried when they heard he didn't get it.

It would be impossible to find a new one for that kind of money.

Doesn't say what model this is though. We know nothing about the rifle other than the condition and that it is an M1A.

As far as the price of AR vs M-14s, the M-14 is much harder (read more expensive) to make than an AR. The AR receiver's are dirt cheap to bang out (look around the US and you'll find brand new receivers from $90 to $180 depending on the manufacturer). M-14 receivers start at $900. They have to be much beefier to withstand the pounding of a .308 round. This is most of the difference in price. That takes your $1500 black rifle and turns it into a $2200 battle rifle, about what you quoted.

Pietro Beretta,

The Loaded I originally ordered in November 2007 was 2,400$ plus taxes etc from Gobles, they now list them at 2,500$. Which is still much better then the price your quoting. However I'd see if Wolverine imports them themselves because you'd want to avoid a dealer that uses FN Sports. Believe me on this.

You can make a "AR" receiver almost completely off spec and still have a viable rifle to use.

If anyone interested can find a copy, look at a AR-15's military drawings and then look at a M14's military drawings. There is a lot more to reference to each other to make sure the features and sizes are correct with a M14 then you do a AR-15.

i dont think it's a secret that stores highered their prices
just walked in my regular gunshop and the clerk said right ahead: we highered prices by 10-15%

honesty that hurts.

Ordered from a Gobles, why? Because they were the ONLY gun store in the old Fall Hunting shows to show a then 14 year old boy (damn, I'll be 22 in this fall, 8 years since then  ) a M1A and let him fondle it, talk about it, and most importantly give him their business card with a price on the back even though they knew full well he was not old enough to buy one just yet. If it was not for that, I don't know if I'd have bought a M1A or wanted one as badly as I did since.

Anyways, FN quoted for a Carbon Steel barreled Loaded M1A with a walnut stock 3-5 weeks to them middle of November sent the deposit in the mail :) Afterwords the store went to double confirm with FN Sports the delivery, they said January instead. Considering January is 6 weeks away I figured why not. Come early January I email to ask how the order is going, they check with FN and are told March now, so I sit it out, let myself cool down as I was so close to getting it and a little frustrated I must admit for waiting so long. :( Again in early March I email again, FN yet again pushed the delivery to late May this time.

So November 2007 to March 2008 and I got a date for "May". Getting frustrated I made a deal about it at the Sportman's Show at FN's booth, not raising my voice in anger or frustration but instead loud enough I could be heard by anyone around me. FN Sales rep gives me his card and tells me to email him the specifics to quiet me. I email him as instructed, and what do you know, the store has my gun less then a week later. Go figure.

Whenever I am faced with ordering a firearm through a store in the future from now on I'll always ask "Are you ordering it from FN Sports?", if yes I'll decline having it ordered without hesitation. There is little FN could say or do to make this fiasco "right".

PS. Before anyone plays the devils advocate, sometimes there are reasons, there are many stores I do not have problems with if they back order my order a little while longer, nothing is perfect, but this was not a supplier problem as noted by how fast they got me it after my conversation in public with them. That is what ticked me off the most.

Did anyone notice how Elwood jacked their price on M&P 15s once they saw how quickly they were selling and how the competitors were charging more???

Prices jumped from advertised at $1440 to $1699 overnight....

If you have some actual proof of that, please publish it here or stop throwing unsubstantiated allegations around.

Facts talk and bulls**t walks....

No kidding. If I saw an M1A for only $900, I'd buy it. No questions.

Due to Obama and the threat of another so called "Assault Weapons" ban there has been a huge run on firearms and ammo. Prices radically jumped up, inventories were cleaned out, and everything is back ordered for months and months. Heck, LPKs and AR uppers are hard to find. Gun shows here in California are experiencing record attendance.

It's probably going to be another 6-12 months for things to wind down to pre-Obama levels.

I can get a Loaded Synthetic for $2,095.00 NIB....Should I retire the Norinco M14S and take the plunge? I want one soooo bad, but wouldn't be the best move financially...why cant I be rich?

I got the Loaded with Walnut stock for more then that. I'd do it myself over again.

As for money and being rich, I was making 11$ a hour when I saved up the money for my Loaded at 2,400$ plus taxes. :p
