I just recently picked one up and so far I love shooting it. I am going to put a scope on it and have read the arms 18 is one of the best mounts, but I've been wondering what the best place to get magazines for it and any aftermarket Springfield parts. Thanks

check with wolverine supplies , i think i remember someone saying they have access to springfield stuff ..

As for springfield magazines , thats going to be a tough one i think.

SAI mags from Brownells or the SAI webstore. 100$ order limit on mags+parts.
Both place have the 5 and 5/10 mags. The 5/10 is also called 5 rounders, call to make sure you get the right ones. They're blocked with a wood insert.

You can get the ARMS products from Wolverine.

For various M14 parts you may check TreelineM14.

Have you ordered from Treeline? I found this on their web site and it doesn't sound good for us.

At this time, Treeline Enterprises ships merchandise to locations within the United States and U.S. territories, including Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Guam, and the US Virgin Islands.

Will they ship and factory springfield m1a mag to canada? I have hoping to get some of the 20 rounders then pin them.

Can't do that. Illegal
It is illegal to have prohibited devices entering Canada (unless you have the appropriate mil/LEO paperwork).

It is also illegal to have these parts in your possession

you don't NEED to be fussy as far as mags are concerned- i've got some 36 of the things and some click right in, some need a little "encouragement" depends on what mag and what rifle- being an old hand with the '14, i prefer the 5/20 mag- it's what it was designed for/came with /works properly, and gives you a decent something to hold on to- besides, you USED to make better deals on a 5 pack of 20s than one 5 round mag from springfield- i got my 5 rounders when ms campbell was going to "limit all semiautomatic guns to 5 rounds" before i found we could pin our standard capacity mags- well, they sit in the junk box- these suckers sit flush with the stock and you need a blade screwdriver ( and not the one in your buttstock tool kit) to get them out-anyway, some of the best feeders( which is what a mag is SUPPOSED to do) are MARSTAR'S 5/20 NORINCO mags- the ones with the "W" follower- with those, you can pry off the floorplate and CLEAN the inside, which is something that is hard to do with some pinned mag- moreoever, you DON'T HAVE A RIVET gouging the heck out of the magwell
oh yea, and the 5/20s are usgi, some norinco, and some i have no idea where they came from- if you can, get usgi - then norinco, then springfield- the norc "clicks" in better and you've got more of a grip- i've had to "modify" more than a few springie tubes on the backside to get them to latch

I see a lot of guys searchin for springfield 5/10 rnd mags.
I made my own from norc 5/20 mag bodies. Made a template, used a heavy duty dremel zip cut, annealed the edges to bend for the floor plate lips... Trimmed the spring.... And presto, perfect 5/20's
I use them for hunting and for that purpose they are fantastic. Less snaggy than a 5/20 and easier to mag change than a 5/5
