Springfield M1A

Nice rifle, I have the same with a carbon barrel.

You should get the arms#18 mount, I love mine. It is low profile and easy to setup.

Looks like this with arm# 22 low rings.

Very nice looking...that walnut stock gives it a classic look
I have a Springfield in a synthetic stock...I bought myself a Smith Enterprises cheek riser. It attaches very solidly with velcro and buckles so you don't have to drill through that nice wooden stock!

I need to find me an M1A, I feel my #### falling off! :D

Seriously, one should not go through life without experiencing the better fit and finish of an M1A or LRB or Smith for that matter. They really are a thing of beauty! :)

Must have!

Cheers,
Barney

The general opinion of whom exactly? Is it because it reportedly has all cast parts? Which is nonsense by the way. Most of you guys couldn't identify a casting from a forging if you had to.

I don't think anyone will deny that an LRB is the top of the line but let's not kid ourselves. At $3500 for the base model it isn't inexpensive. Those who moan about $2000 for a Springfield dare not go that direction. M1A's shoot fine and you'll get lots of good years out of one.

Maybe my words weren't carefully chosen. By less reliable, i didn't not reliable. It is a fine rifle and should continue to prove so for the many years to come!

Looks like you beat me to it ;) That's very close to what I imagined doing with mine! Are you the one who bought the other M1A off Elwood Epps about 2 months ago?

Also, with normal rings, would you be able to still use the iron sights?

Thanks

Yep that's me, very happy I did too!

I think you would need see trough rings, I just hope the qd rings I got will keep the scope zeroed. I will see tomorow I guess.

Lucky duck....that's my dream M-14. Best Springfield M1A for the money. gorgeous walnut stock, national match features, stainless barrel, pure business in an elegant package. A nice S.A. Leather sling would complete the package.

Thanks! I really love the package. No leather on this baby, all USGI mesh :)

Loaded vs 'std' model

Worth the extra? Wonder about the loaded with synthetic stock, stainless barrel. Very similar to what's been discussed here.

American Walnut on a Loaded M1A with stainless match barrel is breathtaking....synthetic is nice too, but only that cammo McMillian Super Match stock....or OD Green

My Norinco M14S sits in a synthetic CADPAT stock...looks Amazing

But I wish I had the 3K to buy a Loaded Walnut with stainless match barrel and NM sights...the ###iest M1A you can get....in a close second the SOCOM 16 in OD Green synthetic stock, or a Scout in American Walnut, with EOTec sight ;)

Damn I'd love me a Springfeild M1A Loaded Walnut ;)

Those McMillan stocks pack quite a punch indeed. Although I'd never buy one at that price...I'd get a heart attack for every new scratch :p

If I had the dough, it would have been an LRB M25. But so far I really enjoy my investment at the range! And soon moose hunting.
