Springfield M21

Beaucoup dollars!

I'd suggest instead you go visit the "Main Battle Rifle" sub-forum on this site, where it's less expensive but equally capable Chinese made M-14's are described, tested, bought, tuned, turned into fantastic rifles...in fact, there are "M-14 clinics" where very knowledgeable people gather to discuss and tweek, tune, bed and improve our M-14's!

There are many thousands of Chinese M-14's in Canada that are giving great service for really inexpensive entry price. I'm talking $450. The receivers are stronger than the Springfield receivers, and are basically USGI spec. It's believed the tooling these are made on, are actually the same that originally made the US military rifles back in the 1960's. I own one myself, and have been so happy with it that I'm planning on buying another, for a different configuration.

You could buy the Chinese M-14, then buy install a better stock for more accuracy (and maybe better looks too), buy the BEST scope mount (critical for any accuracy out of a scope on this rifle), tune up the trigger, bed the stock (if it's wood), install bipods, scope rings, a good scope and STILL be $500 cheaper than a bare bones entry level Springfield M1A...never mind an M-21.

But some people prefer to trust the Springfield or would rather buy American than Chinese (where are their TV's, phones, computers and cutlery made again?). Think about this though: Springfield receivers aren't USGI milspec and are cast. Chinese M-14 receivers ARE USGI milspec and are FORGED with good steel.

Oh yea, and if you are leery of Chinese parts, all USGI parts from American issue rifles WILL fit the Chinese rifles. Same with all the "match grade" parts made for American competition rifles.

But don't take my word for it, check out the Main Battle Rifle sub-forum!
