Springfield or Kimber 1911

I take a little (but not much) comfort in knowing that others have experienced the RIDICULOUS, DISGUSTING & UNNECESSARY wait times. The longest I ever had to wait was for my RRA from Questar. Mark told me eight weeks and it was at my door a couple days short of six weeks. Now that is respectable service!

The dealer (I talked to them AGAIN yesterday) says that Springfields are imported by FN now and that FN is not passing any info on to the dealers regarding shipping info, deliveries etc. None the less I find this dealer should have been more forthcoming with the delay back in March. On top of that the price now is HIGHER (but of course) because the dollar is not as good as it was then.. or thru spring..or thru the summer or even into the fall. So apart fron the extended wait I have to deal with a significantly higher price. I realize the dealer has no control over the economy but faster delivery would have meant passing the additional savings on to a customer to create repeat business.

I actually know a wholesaler pretty well and the hassles that come up in regards to the permits are amazing. If it isn't the manufacturer screwing something up, then you can bet either the Canadian or US governments are. If something drags it out past the permits time frame, start over. Bear in mind, i do not have the exact details on the process, but there are a lot of things that look like they have to fall into place for the shipment to arrive. I know for a fact that Kimber is being difficult right now. I have been waiting for a couple of their pistols (Supermatch & Grand Raptor) for close to 8 months now.

I have had one of each and the Kimber was well ahaead of the Springfield. To be fair the Springfield was a stainless G.I. model that needed some refining and the Kimber had more options to it but the Kimber never failed me. I soon traded the Springfield for the Kimber.
