Hello so I have a Springfield P9 and the safety detent plunger and spring are missing, the safety just flopps around. The Springfield P9 and EAA's are Tanfoglio made clones of the CZ75. So first I ordered a CZ75 safety detent plunger and spring because I read they would work, well it didnt. It turns out Springfield used two styles of safety detents threw out the P9's short life. The first style is the CZ75 design, this is frame mounted on the inside on the left side of the frame. The second style is the Tanfoglio design, this design has the detent plunger and spring staked into the safety shaft right behind the inside of the thunb rest. This is the style I have.
I am just looking to see if people have any experiance with this type of safety, specifically if you have experiance with the P9 itself. I am trying to buy the detent and spring, if I cant find that I will need to buy a complete Tanfoglio safety which comes with the dentent installed.
I cant see how this would work though as there is nothing on the frame where the detent would contact when the safety is put on or off, its smooth with no bump or point. I have heard this style is a very mushy design, but I cant imagine the detent pressure is enough to hold it on. Ive heard that the Tanfoglios have a heart shaped safety cutout to work with the detent. There is a pic of the heart shaped one below, my gun has just a round hole.
