I don't see any conversation anywhere about this model from Springfield Armory, but if it's manufactured like that, it should be non-restricted in Canada, correct? Or is there some inexplicable exception to this particular rifle? a SOCOM 16 would be sweet to order! :D

...or perhaps there's an US export prohibition?

It can't be non-res with a 16" barrel.

It can't be non-res with a 18" barrel.
not true. if it was, explain my 16" Rossi 44RM Carbine...or the 12.5" or 8.5" Grizzly. all non-res firearms from the factory. if it's FROM the factory...it's supposed to be allowed, in a lot of cases. there's no real rhyme or reason to how they decide what guns with a barrel length shorter then 16" are allowed and what aren't...unless the OAL, even with the 16" barrel still meet's the requirements. only reason I can think of.

The 18" was a typo.

You're wrong. A semi-auto centerfire can not be non-restricted with a 16" barrel. Read the Firearms Act.

that was the tidbit I was missing. semi-auto's must be more then 18.5". now I know what's what and will go back to dreaming about a 18.5" M14! :D

There's lots of them out there.

I'm a little late, and nu:wave:

All I will say is this. My SocomII is the funnest range gun to date. The only down side is feeding it :(
