Anyone using a Springfield XD for competition shooting? How are they performing in a match? is it worth getting one for competition? I was big into 1911 at one time but looking for something different. Sorry not a Glock fan.

They work great. If the gun fits your hand and is comfortable, then they are great production class guns. Since it is a striker fired, like the Glock, then you don't have to worry about the heavy double action first shot, or fumbling with safeties and such.
My scores are better with the 1911 when I shoot in Standard, but only because I've never shot 9mm very well, especially compared to any 45 ACP gun.
After several thousand practice and match rounds, the gun still shoots as new and no broken parts or excessive wear to speak of.
Like other production guns, there are several makes of holsters available for them. I prefer the Blackhawk SERPA. 9 and 40 mags are easy to get. The XD45's are hard to find since they sell out fast and Springfield is slow shipping this side of the border.

Safariland and bladetech make holsters for the XD and lights.

I use mine in competition. Best gun ever for me. I have over 30k through it, back to the factory for a refurb (free) (thanks Wolverine!) and still going like new. Ya gotta find what fits and use it alot.
Next time I would skip the blackhawk holster and do the blade tech.

I had three of them I used for IPSC but after I shot my son's M&P, I sold them and bought a M&P 40 that I download to shoot Production division.
The M&P points more natural, has lower muzzle flip, shorter trigger reset and replaceable grip inserts. The plus side of the XD is the mags are all steel and the cocked indicator.
I always press check so the indicator is no biggie for me and I have yet to break a mag after 8000 rounds with speed mag changes both indoors on concrete and outdoors, but I have seen the early M&P mags break so I always take 8 to a match.
You won't regret the XD, I just found something that made me more competitive.
