Springfield XD-M or XDM coming to cda?

I spoke to Gobles. They do not have an XDM in stock. The list on their website is basically their supplier's (in this case, Springfield) product list.

That is on old list provided by FN Sports to SA. Any dealer can order from FN sports, and many are not on the list. Furthermore at least some of the dealers listed no longer exist (Royal sportsman).
FN Sports has tried to get XDM's in but apparently there is no supply of 10rd magazines which further complicates the short supply issues. In any event, it is not that nobody is trying to get these in, everyone involved is doing there best. There will be no XDM supply in Canada for some time.

Tried out the XD when they first came out and liked it more than the G-17, the XDM sure looks nice and will fondle it at the next SHOT show. What stopped me from buying a XD was Springfield’s warranty policy, which forced the dealer to ship the gun back to the factory for all repairs, my friend “Lionhill” had 2 trigger mech failures in his and hardly ever saw his gun, he traded it in. The XDM seems to be getting good reviews on the various US forums, now with better dealer support here, it would do very well, but the price should be closer to the G-17/G-22

I cannot see their price will close to a G17 because of the bell and whistle. It has a match grade barrel that make it more expensive.

+1
I wanted to get an XD a while ago, but apparently if the slightest thing breaks, it gets shipped to the USA (through customs, of course), then back to Croatia (or wherever, through customs) then they fix it and start the return process all over again. Apparently it can take 9 months.

Springfield should have fought to get the rights to aftermarket parts, methinks. Until then, I'm staying away.

The list of dealers came direct from Springfield. I did check back with them to see how current the list was.... they said it was current as of 2005(!).
So I'm not sure what to think. I'm going to ask them to update the list and provide some sort of info on availability of 10 round mags for the Canadian market.

Does anyone know if a factory mag can be legally modified by a gunsmith to limit its capacity to 10 rounds?

Redleg mentioned that the dealer list was from FN. I'm kinda new to CGN. Can you tell me what that is? A wholesaler? Reseller? A distributor for Springfield in Canada?

Hi all. This just in, directly from Springfield:

Dear CE:

Thank you for your email. As regarding a list of more current dealers, please contact our distributor – R Nicholls at 450-442-9215.

Regarding the XD(M), at the present time we do not have a lower capacity magazine for the XD(M); therefore, this model is not being shipped to Canada. I do not have a date yet of when the lower capacity magazine will be available.

Thank you and kind regards,
Donna

Looks like we'll be waiting a while yet. I'm still interested to hear if a factory mag modified to carry only 10 rounds would be legal. In which case it may be possible to import the pistol and mag separately - and take possession of the mag after its been modified. Just a thought...

FN Sports is a Importer/distributor in QC. They supply the stores with Springfield, Ruger, CZ, H&K, Mauser and many more.

Yes that list is out of date/incomplete. I am not on it ;)

Going by the current price guide I have the XDM will be in the $1,100 + range. If they ever get here the price will probably go up

A related question. Is the XD 4" models prohibited or restricted? It is a little longer than 4" but not sure whether it falls into restricted category.

Unfortunately the shorter XDs are prohib. :( That's why there are non in Canada and only the XD Tacticals with their longer barrels.

If they offer extra's that justify the price, then that's fine, but to sell the plain jane they must be close. Since the pistols are made in Croatia, the costs should be lower than being made in the US.

All XDM are equally the same has a match barrel and that fancy case which is the buyer's money. Anyhow I got piss off because they didn't offer for Canadian shooters in the shortly future and I cannot see how ####ing differcult is to make a ten round mag.

So does anyone have an opinion on whether a US mag can be imported and pinned by the dealer or a gunsmith to accept only 10 rounds? If I'm not mistaken this is done all the time with semi-auto rifles.

Why not? Look at all the guys with Hi-Cap mags in their 1911's for IPSC etc. They are all pinned / spot welded.

Import the gun without mags.....then import the pinned mags separately??

Can't someone Import the HS 2000 from Croatia?? It would be cheap would it not?

There are many gun dealer want to import the XDM but Springfield don't want to sell the gun to Canada. The HS 2000 is the same XD which we already have here and XD mag won't work for XDM as far as I know. For these matter already drive me nut.

Some dealers may be allowed to do this. However, it is by special permission by the CFO and indicated on their business firearms license. I know for a fact that my business firearms license does not give such permission.
