Springfield XD Pistols

....
Cons-
Good luck getting parts if/when something breaks

How so? Have you ever had this problem of not being able to get parts? Have you had an XD break?

Awesome guns. Very accurate and many people swear by them. Never heard of one breaking yet.

I've got one in .40 with over 5K on it. Nothing broken yet. If it does, I'll call Springfield and they will service me as they always have in the past.

Regards.

i have a springfield XD...bought it when they were $650 haha...put about 10k on it and broke a trigger bar...i haven't sent it in to be fixed...bought a glock 2 years ago..so it's still sitting..however they are very similar to a glock in feel and accuracy...i think they have better stock triggers though.

Glock>XD
Glock<XDM

I think of a Glock like a Honda Civic. ....
There are tons of them out there. Lots of them are stock and the owners love them. Others have the flashy bits added and then others are done out to the point that they aren't even really a Glock anymore.... Kinda like mine :p

I have a XD-9, and its been really reliable. It has never jammed or broken any parts. The accuracy is quite good for what you pay. I also liked that it had the grip safety and the trigger safety. Plus it felt better in my hand than the Glock.

I have an XD9 siting in my safe waiting for the day I can get an extractor (for a reasonable sum). So far Springfield have offered to fix it, but only if I send it back to their factory. Shipping both ways and the extractor replacement should only run around $200.
I think I'd part it out and destroy the frame before I flushed money down the drain to have it fixed -hence the reason it has been sitting in the safe for over a year now.

To the original poster: RUN away from the XD:runaway: There are better pistols out there in the form of Glocks and M&Ps if you are in the market for an inexpensive polymer framed pistol.

The XD series of pistols is great. There reliable, accurate and rugged. They are much like a worked over Glock.
Most people who dislike the Glock find that the XD works great for them. I have now owned 2 Glock's, soon to take on the 3rd. I find they fit my hands great, shoot great, look great.... there great. But there is no one gun that will fit everyone. This is where the XD comes in.
Best bet is go shoot all the pistols you are considering and go from there. If it goes on much more in here I think it might turn into the Glock VS. XD battle I have seen on other forums.

I have shot several XD and they are very nice gun, accurate, better trigger than my Glock but I like the grip angle of the Glock better. Unlike other XD owners in the State, they can get their gun fix without any issue but here in Canada, we run into a lot of repair issue with import guns.

Appreciate the feedback everyone. I have been reading alot of articles/reviews on them and it seems the common concensus is that they are fairly well built/functioning but the major downfall of them being parts/service here in Canada.
As far as warranty is concerned, is it a real hassle to ship the firearm to the US and have it sent back? Obviously the shipping cost is a factor, but asides from that is there alot of paper work that needs to filled out?
I have not had the opportunity to shoot an XD, but from the feel they seem to fit more comfortably in my hand than the Glocks. Was also looking at Walther but a significantly higher price, so decided it it wasn't really in the runnings for me.

Most BORING gun ever produced. Boring because it's so accurate and consistent that it takes the challenge and fun out of shooting it.

I haven't touched my XD45 for 6 months and pulled it out and still get targets like I've been shooting it all along.

Cons... my XD9 is still a 9mm. Not as accurate as a 45 because of the nature of the round. Other than that, no XD45 spare mags available yet this side of the border so I have to shoot 1911 for IPSC.

Major PRO... drives Glocksnobs nuts! :p

Appreciate the info, I did not see that on the site. Well that is good news, which hopefully I won't have to use, cuz the XD is ordered! Thanks for everyones input.

I don't think it can be a problem because Questar is our site supporter.
