Springfield xd service vs. tactical

I am loooking at getting an XD-9 but can't decide on the 4" service or the 5" tatical. What are your thoughts? Any difference in recoil, accuracy?

Are you in the states? If not you aren't going to get a 4" XD.

4 inch is prohibited in Canada. Ridiculous gun laws here.

good to know.... I thought that anything UNDER 4" was prohib... not including 4"... guess I'm gonna get the 5" tatical!

You have a lot of other choices available in guns with barrels slightly more than 4 inches without having to go up to a 5 inch. Glock, H & K, Sig all make models that you might like. Nothing wrong with a 5 inch though.

i was having a hell of a time with accuracy with my xd tactical almost ready to melt it down.

i just put some skate board tape on the grips and found out this one hell of a sweet pistol to shoot.

If you have money and the time I have already talked to EFK Dragon and they were willing to make a 9MM, 40 or .45 ACP barrel @ 107MM, then pay them for a gun its self and the barrel (they said theyd credit a bit for the factory barrel) and have it under their FFL, then get someone like Questar or do the paperwork your self and have it sent into the CFC.

4 would be a sweet gun as the 5 is just to big IMO. Tho for the $$ that would cost there are other already short guns that I'd prefer more.

I've seen the xd-m on the springfield site.. they do look pretty sweet... any ideas when they will hit the shelves out here? (I'm in Calgary)

I've shot XD but only handled XDm and was very impressed with both. If and when XDm becomes available in Canada, it'll be a very competitive gun to Glocks.
Mags and other stuff availability may take some time to catch up thou.

Hmm....I have a G17 but IMO MY Glock is no way better than a XDM.

Love my XD Tactical... nice grip angle, good weight, accurate... I use it for IPSC and its made me a better shooter since it does what its supposed to with no fuss and fiddling required.
