Been eyeballing a Springfield XD in 9 or 40.

They seem like pretty well engineered, modern firearms for a decent price. Just wondering what kind of personal experience the CGN crowd has had with these - the good, the bad and the ugly.

Thanks gang!

I had the XD40 and really enjoyed the gun. I didn't enjoy the calibre though. I found the 40 very "snappy". I got a 9mm conversion and really enjoyed shooting that calibre. I was going to get an XDM9 but came across a good deal on STI Spartan in 9mm and I really like it as well. So bottom line, nothing bad to say about the XD line.

If you are looking at the xd series, I would spend the extra on the xdm. Grip is more aggressive and blackstrap option is great for choices. Better fit and finish.

Ellwood Epps have the competition ones for sale. They also got a .40 Xd used in very good condition. I just bought one there used in 9 and so far no complaints. Similar to a glock gen 3 feel imo. Trigger pull is a little mushy but nothing awful. Give it a try and if you don't like it put in up on the EE :)

I have an xd9 love it but my girlfriends Beretta 90two is far and away more accurate. BTW both these firearms will accept their 40 s&w cal counterparts and legally hold 14 rounds of 9mm

Go for the XDM as well. If you plan on shooting IDPA or IPSC then look at the 5.25" model. It's the best of the bunch.

Cant use the 5.25 in production (last I checked)

Op ive been drooling over a xdm for a month now and when I can free up some funds I plan on getting one. Ive handled.the xdm and xd a fair bit in the last month and id go with the xdm if I were you it just feels better especially with the new slide serrations.
