Springfield XDM 45?

I would get a S&W M&P 45 or, if you can find one, an HK45. Even though Glocks in other calibres aren't up to the same standard as the 9mm ones, a 21SF would be a better choice than an XD or XDM.

The XD pistols don't really have a great reputation for long term durability/reliability. Furthermore, spare parts are not readily available. The grip safety must be engaged to rack the slide; it is possible for a grip safety malfunction to sieze up the gun.

Yep +1 on the M&P 45 or the HK USP.45. Both are real good guns and if you don't already have one why not try a 1911? Can never go wrong with one of those.

Personally I have had good performance out of the big frame glocks but do not care for the XD series at all...they have had consistent issues from the outset and are not at all up to the standard of Glock or S&W (and obviously not HK).

I don't have any experience with the MP45 or the HK45 (should have shot Todd Green's at AFHF but for some reason didn't). But better guys than me give both these guns the thumbs up. At one time I know that Larry Vickers was not impressed with the G21 but I think that was 10 years ago, not sure if his opinion would have improved along with the G3s (and next month apparently the G4s).

Dr. Roberts rips the G21, but then I hear Ken Hackathorn likes the G20...same frame, at least.

At any rate even if the G21 is only so-so for a Glock, it's still definitely better than any XD.

So...thats a big no the XD then ha ha. I bought a glock 17 last summer, its lots of fun and im a huge fan of the way an hk feels so I may go that route.
I have also always dreamed of owning a pair of matching 1911's like snake eyes one day. So I may hold out til I can afford to do that with the 1911.

Thanks all

Does Armco still sell tuned Norc 1911s? Probably your best bet.

I just checked his website - new Norcs for $469 with tuned trigger. If I had any money I would buy one myself.

the xdm45 is pointless...it offers no advantages over the direct competition (glock 21) it is the same capacity and its too complicated...But if you like the XDM45, go for it. It is you that needs to be happy and if you like the way the gun feels, handles and shoots, why the heck not. I told myself I would never own a M&P45, and i fell in love with it the minute i shot it.

I believe Hickock on youtube does a fair bit of shooting with the xd series. He does a fair bit of reviewing of the line so you might want to look it up.

i own a regular xd45 i find it to be a good striker fired pistol. it's reliable, accurate, has a better trigger than a g21 (imo)

the loaded chamber indicators do get full of powder residue after about 1000 rounds or so, it does not affect function

i don't think i would buy an xdm45 though

Yep the Glock and XDM feel very different, that's not to say the Springfield is pointless just maybe not for all. I personally find the XDM points better than a Glock.

Ya cant wait to get mine, I bought it during the family day sale at prohet river, $699 no tax no shipping, and its a 4.5 inch xdm 45 range kit, with holster, mag loader, mag holster and carry case

cant beat that set up!!!

I have a XDM 45 and love it. Mine is well built and accurate. To me, it points naturally. I've owned many pistols and this is my autoloader. I replaced the sights with Trijcon HD's and had a Powder custom trigger kit installed. Put one in your hands before you pass judgement. It might point for you too.
