Springfield XDm-9mm 5.25" barrel OR S&W M&P pro9 5" barrel

Looking to buy another pistol. Just about made a deal on the M&P 9mm, then sighted the Springfield XDm-9mm 5.25" barrel. Anybody with any experience with the XDm 9mm? No intention to shoot in competition, just target practice and like the longer barrel. Does the slide relief (cut-out) for balance collect crap in it? Is that palm safety on the XDm a pita? Read about all I can find on the two pistols, now I need some input from people who have used them. I don't have access to a shop to actually hold them without airfare to get there or 10 tanks of gas to drive.

I'd go XDM... I just like them better than the S&W

Have you considered the Glock 34?... speaking of!

There is a Glock 17L Gen3 in the EE for $825 right now in brand new condition! I have a Gen2 and it is sooooo nice! If I were you, I'd buy the 17L if your looking for a nice longslide. It beats both the XDM and the S&W
 
The trigger on the M&P Pro is quite nice, while the XDm is surprisingly bad for a "match" pistol. Parts and mags are a ##### to find for the XDms too.

The Glock 17L may not be a bad option actually...

I actually agree that the XDM (not XD9, that pistol is better IMO) has #### mags... or more correctly a #### magazine well. The mags fit loosely... I still prefer it to an M&P though. That pistol is just boring to me for some reason...but thats just my feeling on them and should not be taken as a "review"

Buy the bloody 17L... and tell the guy the pistol forum sent you, if I could afford it, it wouldn't still be available :)
 
Thanks everyone for the replies and suggestions. Which to buy? The Smith & Wesson M&P 9Pro or the Springfield XDm. Well, I chose the Glock 17L. Thanks to ChromeArty for the tip it was for sale. Nice looking pistol too by the way!

My pleasure man! :) they are SO nice to shoot! When I'm at the range I always come back to it, no matter what else is there!
