I have decided to upgrade my mounting solution to a one piece base. I have narrowed down my options to either the Near Alphamount or a Spuhr mount. After the inclusion of a bubble level they come out to approximately the same cost. This will be going on a Near rail.

Thanks for any information.

id say near, because its canadian made, Richard is a GREAT guy to deal with and super friendly, every time iv called to get something from him its turned into a 20+ min phone call

that being said, spuhr is also a great product, and really it comes down to what you prefer the looks of

I got one of near alpha mount in 34mm, it one of the best, doesn't have bubble leveller, but I would say that is one of the best.

+1 for Richard's Alphamount.
I got the 34 mm one with 45 MOA base.
Rock solid, beautifully crafted.

For long range shooting, I would prefer something more solid.
these are just finish, din't have time to clean up or coating yet, but it fit like a glove on a Picany rail system.
I dont understand why no one done these yet.

I find he is an excellent person to deal with, very up front and straight forward.
and for the quality product that he produce, it never over price.

I've posted this on several occasions but I'll do it again.

When I bought my Savage 10FP I was in need of a +20MOA rail for it. I already had the scope and rings. I did some research on the net and was all ready to spend my money on a Near rail. I only had one point to clarify - what model of mount would I need? There were a few different versions listed and I didn't want to order the wrong one. So I called Richard, with my credit card in hand. I told him that I wanted to buy a rail but that I wanted to be sure that I was ordering the correct one. What I got was a very terse "just go on the website". I tried to explain that I had been on the website but wanted to make sure that I got the right one. He told me that he was "really busy and I don't have time to answer questions". It's not often that I'm left at a loss for words but this was one of those times. I had heard great things about near and I wanted to support a Canadian business (I actually ordered the rifle from Reliable and paid a little more than I would have at Wholesale but wanted to support a family run business). Richard's behaviour absolutely floored me. So I called contestant #2 - Ken Farrell. I got the lady who answers the phone (I suspect it was his wife) and she snared him out of the driveway where he was just heading out to go fishing. He came in and talked to me on the phone for 20 minutes and ensured that I got the right scope base for my rifle. He was pleasant and very easy to talk to. Maybe Richard was having a bad day, maybe his basement was flooding, or maybe he had to go to the washroom. Regardless, he could have given a simple explanation and it would have been all good. Instead I was blown off. As Harlan Hogan used to say in the commercials...you never get a second chance to make a first impression.

Richard has been great to deal with in my experiences and more than accommodating with his time. He is a very busy person and generally does not have time for casual conversation although I've spent a bit of time with him on the phone discussing various topics and never made to feel like I was wasting his time. YMMV.

He work by himself most of the time, he did had help from the pass, but I think the guys got a different jobs, so it very hard for him to do everything at once, the work are not hard , but very tedious , lot of set up and tear down.

My second 2nd 1 piece 50moa mount.
