For those that have installed this magwell, when installing the bolt catch, what is the purpose of the hole on the front bottom of it? I assume the spring rests on the curved portion just above this hole.

You can see the hole under the long spring leg

Hello
I am in the same zone as your self, trying out the Spuhr stanag magwell, the BHO lever installed is stiff, does not freely articulate. I wondered about that hole as well, I am having a hard time finding any info on this switchover. May have to try it with out the release lever.

I have installed this in the past. The long spring leg does rest in the half circle cut out on the bolt catch/release. I circled below what I think you are talking about.

Yeah I figured thats where it went as it most closely resembles the factory spot. Do you know what the purpose of the hole is underneath that half circle? I guess thats what I am questioning the most here.....

The way you have it assembled looks correct. I'm not sure what is the purpose of the hole they placed under the half circle, it doesn't serve any purpose for the installation.
