So I have read all the different opinions on this rifle and this is not what the thread is about. I recently bought a used one and want to give it a good cleaning and such. My only problem is I can't get the bolt out of the receiver do to the cocking handle. So basically my question is, can you get it out? And if you can how does one do that? It appears that the bolt is put in place and the handle is then attached and is never meant to come off. Any help would be very much appreciated. If pictures would help let me know and I can take some also. Thanks!

The handle has a slot through which passes the flat firing pin. There is a cutout in the firing pin to clear the handle. When it is in the right position, the handle will pull out. Don't lose the detent ball and spring which allow the outer collar on the handle to snap back and forth.

So I have to pull out the firing pin then I can pull out the bolt? But I can only pull out the firing pin when it is in just the right position?

Sweet! Thanks got it out. Was a bugger to put back in though, lol. Cleaned up nicely too. Thanks a lot for your help. Now if only I could find somewhere to get more mags for it.

It's a pain to remove and replace that handle for cleaning. I never knew quite how to propery get that thing out and it always took forever to get it back in.

This is how I do it.

The easiest way to get it out, and back in is this.
After removing the action/ barrel from the stock remove the end ca from the back of the action and remove the springs.
Next lay the action flat on its side across your knees or on a table.
Grasp the bolt handle and lift lightly and quickly jiggle the bolt back and forth.
The firing pin will slide around when you do this and when it hits the spot, voila! The secret is not to lift too hard, otherwise the pin won't slide in there.
The opposite to put it back together.
I have had 2 of these rifles for years.
From the sounds of it I got "the" good one. No major problems, and it feeds reliably.

Oh yeah,
Do you like your rifle? does it shoot well?
I pull mine out for nostalgia from time to time.
It was the first gun I ever bought with my own money, i was 12 at the time.
It still shoots pretty good for 22 years with me, and it was used then...

I am very happy with it. I didn't expect much in way of performance, but it shoots very nice. It came with a scope rail and I will probably throw some cheap glass on there just cause I am not very good with iron sights.

My first rifle has actually been re-barrelled with the barreled action from a Squires-Bingham model 2000. Same thing but with a "heavier" 22" barrel.
Took the trigger group off of the old M16 and pit it on new action, and put it back in the black stock.
I added a proper sling swivel stud to mount a bi pod, and have a "rebuilt " tasco scope on it. The open sights are long gone.
The other is one of the retractable stock models. It is all original. The sights are allright. Accuracy is good enough, but only if it goes bang. Feeding is an issue, and it seems to get dirty very fast!
Seems to work best with Stingers, but I don't like to shoot the premium stuff in a cheap gun like that...

Hmmm, I wonder if you bought this one from a guy that I was suppose to get it from about a month ago. We had made a deal to do a trade and we were suppose to ship out to each other after the weekend but come Monday I didn't hear from him, and come tuesday he had changed his mind and backed out  I guess its okay, I ended up with a pimped out Rhineland R22 so I guess i can't complain. But still I wonder.... :onCrack:

You got any pics to share ???

Used to own this one!

Ummmmmm, I don't know. I found it in the EE. I will get some pics up, but it looks like every other one on the internet. Well mine isn't the collapsible stock model.

But is that restricted then? What's the OAL? I do enjoy the fact mine isn't restricted. Although I have been trying like mad to find another 15 round mag for it.
