Someone I know owns a SB M1600 that he may want to sell but he has no idea as to the value.

Anyone have any ideas?

Here's a starting point for you.... I've got an old Shooter's Bible from 1982 that lists that rifle as costing $129.95 US new.

I'll throw a wild guess out there and say, aside from something being essentially worth what another person is willing to pay for it, somewhere between $100-$175 would be a fair price. But that's just my opinion. I had one, and they function fine, but are not particularly outstanding in any way. I'm not aware that they are "collectable" and enhanced in value because of that. Compare them to many other semi-auto 22's that are available today for around the $200 mark.

I saw one today. Not that impressed. The trigger seemed ok, but the overall fit/finish was nothing special. The wood stock mimicking an AR-15 looked cheesy. Good from far, but far from good.

$200-$250. More if was the teliscoping version. I have seen them go (very quickly too) for $300.

I bought one for $125 nine years ago when I was a newbie. I sold it $100 a month later and was glad to get rid of it. The guy that bought it from me actually gave it away to the gunsmith for parts a month after he bought it from me. They really are not a very good rifle.
