Hello Gunnutz

I am hoping to hunt some small game soon and am wondering what the best way to clean them is?

If anyone knows a good way to get squirrels and rabbits freezer-ready please tell me.

Drive a stick up its arse, cook over open fire, once it turns black, peel the skin off , add spices, enjoy

Just like a fish .... Run a knife from anus to throat, pull everything out ... Flush abundantly with water, you can skin it if you want at which point you want to cut off all 4 feet then run an incision inside from the tip of the newly created stumps to your main incision, and rip the skin/furr off (it will come right off like a sock most times).

Its a lot like cleaning a rabbit, really.

ps: As of last year I had never cleaned anything but a fish, so I was quite nervous until I realised that the procedure is quite similar and you don't have to worry about much ....

the best way to dress a rabbit or squirrel is to break all the joints by their feet and cut off the feet. grab the hide on their back and cut a hole large enough to get a few fingers in. now pull the hide off in opposite directions. you often need to work it around the legs. cut off the head/tail, remove the guts and you're done.

takes a couple minutes and with a little practice you can do it without getting any blood on ya.
