SR 22 classic AR build

Seems like the more i research the harder it gets.
I slowlystarted shopping removable traingular front sight posts, and also read descriptions.
They all say that they are meant to be mounted to low profile gas block height, and not receiver picatinny height.
So finding this nordic front block that matches rear rail height, will not do the job.

Back to the drawing board, will try to figure out things out later.

have you already got the .920 bbl?

I *think* the OEM SR-22 bbl is the same diameter as the AR bbl for the triangle sight. Maybe something from the airsoft world in aluminium?

Yes you are correct. My stock barrel is .750", but this law preventing me from cutting it sucks. I wish to use my 12" .950
Right now airsoft is not an option either, want to keep it maximum armalite brand parts possible.
Armalite AR10 NM does have .950" dia, will look into it tomorow

Just letting you guys know i have abandonned A2 project, after spending 4 days of intense research i have come to this conclusion.
Having the rear rail sit 1/2'' higher than a real AR, there seems to be no way of using a triangular front sight post (gas block style) and to be able to properly zero with a carry handle.
I have used my armalite national match carry handle, and messed around with measurements of front sight post.

If someone we're to do this build there would be 2 ways of acheiving this, 1st up is using an extra tall gas block with detach A2 sights in front of A2 furniture. I have seen the builds on ARs on the net and it actually ruins the look of having classic furniture. 2nd way around, would be installing A2 gas block front sight, and simply using optics at rear and ignore sight, it would be there to complete look. If someone would go this way, research ''JP clamp on a2 sight'' , it's the easiest way to go with i had found. I think that with JP sight and let'S say armalite A2 handguards, this would look awesome. If i used optics and ignored sights, i would definatly go this way.

I have noticed that AR10 carry handles are longer (would fill the rail gap that AR15 handle leaves on top of receiver), and sit lower. As the AR10's receiver rails sit about 1/4'' higher than AR15 rails. This combined with an extra height front sight blade from DPMS would have probably done the job, but at this point no shop drawing of AR10 carry handle we're available, and i do not feel like dropping 200$ just to go see and try. But at least it can give you research starting points, as you will find this makes sense.

I will post pictures when done anyways, but going the way everyone here has seen 100 times. Dlask rails, free float short bull barrel, and magpul kool-aid...

Maybe you would have more luck with a Remington 597 VTR.
A while ago I installed a carry handle with a triangle front sight post on mine and they lined up perfectly. I now went a completely different direction with it.
