Went out shooting today and my "new" SR-22 fell apart
I have a Harris bi-pod and for the first time brought a shooting blanket to try out .
Loaded my clips and shot about 6 or 7 shots, then it jammed, pulled the magazine and tried again,1 shot and jammed.
Then I noticed laying on my blanket was the extractor plunger, the extractor spring and the extractor....hmmm
This gun has only been out 4 times and haven't used my box of 555 up yet.
Anybody else ever heard of this happening? My old 10/22 had thousands of rounds through it and never missed a beat.

Did you have a casehead separate? Or did it just pop out? Ive blown them out with casehead seperations, reinstalled and all was well. If the fit is too losse then there could be a problem.

ok, fixed my post...magazine,not clip
I'm an amateur....

Supernova- it just fell apart,no apparent reason, I'm gonna have a closer look at it in the next day or so

I'd just throw it back in and if it doesn't pop out when you bend it back it should be fine. May have been installed wrong at the factory or something.

That's what I'm thinking too - it takes a lot to get those extractors out of a Ruger to replace them with the Volquartsen for example. I suspect it wasn't in all the way to begin with, or it was a fluke. Put her in, see if it happens again. If it does, and your ammo is fine (ie. no case head seperations as suggested above), then you have a problem, potentially easily fixed by replacing the extractor :)

Mine popped out in two feet of snow in the bush, managed to find extractor, plunger, and spring. Put it all back together and has never been a problem since.

So I pulled the SR apart this afternoon, every screw I went to take out was finger tight (or less)
I put the extractor pieces back in and everything seems to work fine, still can't understand how it came apart but real glad I found the parts laying on the blanket
I'll go out to my shooting spot after work one night this week and try it out, maybe I'll get lucky and it will be fine.....I'll post an update later on

same thing happened to me today!!!! but all i could find was the little pin? extractor!
where can i find replacemant parts?
thanks guys

My brand new out of the box SR22 dropped the plunger as soon as I picked it up to look at the yellow (clean before firing) clip. Spring was still in, and couldnt find the extractor for an hour and finally found it inside the magazine. Disasembled it for cleaning and put the extractor back in and went out and shot 400 rounds thru it and didn't have any problem.

Threw in a new titanium extractor and spring and voila!!
600 rounds and only a couple ftf probably caused by brand new bc mag! no jamming what so ever!
