Hi folks,

I'm considering a SR-22 / Nordic build, and was wondering if anyone had suggestions. Specifically I'm looking into handguard & rail alternatives where the handguard rail is at the same height as the chassis rail. I'm not having much luck finding something SHORTER than the SR-22 / Nordic.

I know Dlask used to have a short one listed, but I also remember those being quite expensive (anybody remember how much that was?)

Thanks in advance,

RadMan

I mean a handguard that is not the standard sr-22 / nordic ones, where when you mount that alternative guard its rail is flush with the top LIKE the standard guard rail combo. I'm specifically looking for a shorter handguard / rail combo.

Am I making any sense?

An example of what I'm talking about is the Dlask short quad rail, though it was expensive and I'm not sure if it's available any longer.

The rail is the full-length top rail designed for the SR-22. I had to saw about 1/4 inch off the rail (the first peg) so it would fit properly on the Nordic handguard. I filed it down and painted over the exposed aluminum so it would look pretty.

Call Dlask up and just ask if they have the shorter hand guards and rail sets in production, or any kicking around the shop.

Thanks folks, looks like there aren't too many options. Might have to consider using a rail riser on a AR-15 FF handguard 'cause I remember that Dlask unit being muchos pesos...

Give them a couple months :D

PM Dr. Lector and get a time frame from him ... he seems to know everything about Dlask and it's going on ;)

Pretty sure I ended up with your old SR-22 chassis jt_trouble. I bought it from another forum member on here. I really like the dlask short quad hand guard, even more so with the 12.5" sporter chambered .920 stepped to .850" barrel from dlask :)
Keep hunting for one RadMan, they are awesome! I also got a combat brush guard for the front, from Iron Eagle Tactical. Unfortunatly the screw holes aren't the same as the factory handguard, so I had to get a gun smith to drill me new holes so the brush guard could fit. Looks great though, I'm really happy with ti.

Ya, that's pretty sweet looking. I had more in mind skipping the brush guard and going with a barrel shroud, quad rail the guard with rail covers, AFG or AFG2 grip and UBR stock. Finish it kinda like you have there with Magpul MBUS BUIS and some kind of reflex sight. Of course, this is all dependent on the Battledyne folks sorting out their mags... :(

Ya, I sent my mags back. Waiting for replacements ...apparently I'm one of the lucky few who had issues.

Is that a mag cover or simply a magazine made that way? What is it?
