that really depends on what distance you are shooting, what type of accuracy you expect and what youre comfortable with. Out to about 50 yds a red dot is hard to beat for its speed but becomes increasingly more difficult to use past that. A scope will allow you to make much more accurate shots but wont be as fast to use. Im gonna go with red dot based on how I use my .22s

I use a combination.... but i'm just trying to be tacticool... :p

In my opinion a red dot is perfect for the SR-22, but I use mine for action/fast style shooting from 0-100 yards. If you're going for slow/deliberate fire or trying to shoot tight groups obviously a scope would be better. If you decide scope I would go something in the 1-4 or 2-7 range. A big 6-24 would just look rediculous on an SR-22 if you ask me. Someday I am going to try the Vortex Viper PST 1-4 from my XCR on the SR-22, but normally it wears a Vortex Sparc.

+1 on the issue of distance against quick target acquisition

a 16-24x would work if you're trying to hit at 100 yards. I've seen it at the range.

but like the above states, if you're going for CQB style shooting, get a red dot or a reflex sight (reflex gives you a wide fFOV and lets you see your surrounding area, while red dot focuses your FOV into something much narrower), but if you're going for match shooting, then a scope would be what you want.

As the SR22 is more for fun & fast, I think a red dot is a great way to go. As far as scopes I am still looking for the right one for targets. You just have to decide what & how you plan to shoot. Fot pop cans, golf balls & gophers I think a red dot is a hoot.

I have tried both and prefer the red dot on mine. If I want to shoot out farther I will just use the 10/22 VLEH I have. I prefer the sr22 for more of a fast target acquisition plinker than a long distance accuracy machine.

Sparc

Loving the look of the SPARC, checked one outthe other day and it looked like good value for money.

I have a RedDot on my Marauder, and I love the instant target acquisition I get with it. It's good enough for consistent hits on golf balls at 50 yds., and it's fun to use. I don't plan to shoot at much beyond 50 yds. with the gun, so it's perfect.

For 100 yds., or benchrest-type shooting, I have a 6-18X scope on my Savage boltie..
