This week took my SR-22 for a little blasting and i decided to make a serious shoot on the sand bag with it, topped by a Redfield 4X12X40, here is a 15 shots group @ 100 metres, the Stinger ammo dont group good in many rifles but sure is the best one for the Ruger... JP.

My experience is similar to your's in the respect that I found it to be fairly accurate in my SR-22. While I only tested mine at 25 yds. to date, it was definitely one of the most accurate I've tried.

The driving band is further out on the stingers and gets engraved a bit when the bolt comes to battery. This helps to center the bullet evenly and straighten things up in the .228-.230 somewhat tapered chamber that is a bit excessive for good accuracy on the .224" case. The stingers do the opposite on slightly shorter chambered 22's, the excessive engraving creates uneven pressure spikes on rifles like the CZ's for example....they become vertically spread because of this. I would definately put some synthetic buffer pin in the back if your shooting stingers in your SR or you will eventually see fatigue cracks around the openings that hold the pin in place.

The sr-22 is alot more accurate than the 10-22 due to the thick barrel... JP.

That is not saying a lot, even if it was true.:p By the way, the 10/22 Target comes from the factory with a heavy barrel, and I have seen them do better that the group that you just posted.,

It is not a great group for sure but still @ a 100 meters for a 22 LR 2 inch or less 15 shots is very good... JP

Thats a dead gopher or pop can:D.

These gun snobs who snear and snicker at anything less the .5 moa can go climb back under there bridge and get stuffed, no need to justify anything to them because they always have better or do better (at least on the interweb)

The .22LR is meant to be fun...looks like you're using it in the right manner.

Cheers!!

My Savage .22WMR shot a group just a little smaller than that using CCI and I bought a new stock, spent the next 4 weeks tracking-down 10 varieties of .22WMR ammo, a rear sand bag, and then put 5 hours on my truck (return trip) to hit a proper range and try to see if it was me, or the gun. I was 1/2 panic-stricken! :)

That's all true, but it's almost apples and oranges comparing .22lr to .22WMR~that I realize. As for how the stingers did in your SR-22, I'm actually a little impressed. The 10/22 I had probably couldn't have done that @ 50 yards, at least in my hand...with it's aching trigger finger...from that heavy-a** trigger. I didn't have the interest in modifying the trigger, testing every ammo. with it, etc. I jumped ship!

Having many 10-22 was not expecting much when i got the SR-22, but when i start shooting Stinger in that tactical looking 22 ( i bought it for the look first) it turned out to be a wicked little rifle accurate compare to the other 10-22... JP.

My SR22 does consistent <1" group at 50yd; frequent 1/2" groups of 5 with Win Xpert ammo. I'm too cheap to shoot with stingers.

Hated that lawyer fracked stock trigger, never could get an consistency. Changed over to VQ trigger, what a delight, breaks like glass, <3#. Con is retails for over $250.
