I'm attempting to remove the back plate from the slide in my wife's SR9. The issue is that on the video I see two holes on the back plate. The large hole is for the striker pin and there is a smaller hole I assume is to assist in removal of the black plastic plate on the rear of the slide by using a drift pin. On my wife's pistol, there is no hole except the larger one for the striker pin assy. Do we have a defective back plate or am I missing something here? what can I do to take out the striker pin?

There has to be a hole because the spring loaded pin that retains the back plate detents into it. It's not big, about 1/16" or so.

I have looked and there is no hole to allow the depression of the plunger and spring. I wonder if the plunger hole that's supposed to be on that plate was somehow missed during manufacture. not sure how to post a pic, but I can send you a pic through your email.

Here's a picture of the back of mine, the hole in question is silver coloured because of the reflection from the top of the pin -

Mine is a recently upgraded backplate.. They did away with that plunger hole, there is a groove at 6 o'clock in the striker hole and when you depress the ledge the plate can easily slide off the frame.. found this out from a fellow on alberta outdoorsman who directed me to that video... "utube SR9C striker removal"
Thanks dirtybarry for your help!

Damn them and their, "we reserve the right to change product specifications without notice" and all. Just as well, that plunger was kind of a PITA anyhow. It had to be depressed far enough to allow the plate to slide but you have to be careful not to push it too far or whatever was being used to push it would lock the plate instead.
