Hey all,

Just bought my first 1911. Went with the Ruger SR1911. Will this accept any 1911 mag?
Anybody know where to get the stock Ruger ones also? Having a hard time finding them.

Lastly, any more feedback from these babies? Read a lot of good stuff

Any stock 45ACP 1911 mags should work fine. You can get the cheap 8rnd DLASK ones for under $20. that seems to be pretty good quality or you can buy a Wilson Combat 3pack from Brownells for $99. :)

From all I've read, some have a bit of rattle in the frame but more importantly, the barrel locks up pretty solid with no play with the front bushing.

Welcome to the 1911 club... it won't be your last one. haha

love my SR1911. A little rattle but no big deal. I don't expect the fit and finish of a $2500 1911 for $750. Its more accurate than I am. Runs great clean or dirty

Make sure you call first to make sure they have them. Everything on their website is listed as in stock when it isn't. Your best bet is the Wilson Combat 47D's from Brownell's.

Every gun is different... but I have an SR-1911 as well and my 3 black Dlask 8 rounders dont feed reliably. In my Norc they are perfect. But in the Ruger they are not. Ive got a few more options coming to see what it likes best.

Im VERY pleased with my SR-1911. Ive got buddies with $1500-2000 1911s and they are definitely tighter. But I can shoot just as well, my SR LOOKS just as good and I paid less than half what they did. A little slide rattle is worth the $800 I saved.

I am currently using Chip McCormick Power Mags. Other good 1911 magazines are Wilson Combat and Tripp Research.

From what I have seen, the OEM Ruger magazines appear to be made by Checkmate Industries. From my experiences with them, I would not make the effort to search for them.

My Ruger works with no name mags to expensive ones, makes no difference what so ever. Great gun, it got on my "never sell this one" list after I fired the first round.

I wouldn't mind a little commander cousin for it, but I haven't heard much about the commander reviews.

I'm not even sure if the Commanders are on the market yet. Last I heard Ruger was running SR1911s 24/7 and couldn't keep up with demand so I'm not sure how they could also be producing Commanders in any significant quantity. I would also like one to go with my SR1911 but I'm not holding my breath waiting.

The SR1911 stock mags are tripp industries mags, NR magazines on here carries them at a price that makes it worth it to get them from them instead of direct from tripp. They are worth the money IMO and most single stack competitors will swear by them (I do)

Yep, we carry Tripp mags, right here. They're impressive items. I haven't run them all, but they look WAY better built than any other 1911 magazine, including CMCs. That said, we sell five CMC mags for every Tripp one and never hear a complaint about CMC, so they can't be bad! Of course, if I were to use them in competition, I'd probably pony up the extra $2 and go with the Tripp mags.
