SR22 Barrel Support Block Question

I purchased a nordic chassis for the 10/22 on the EE and it should be arriving tomorrow. I just wanted to know all your opinions:

With a stock 18.5" barrel, is the barrel support block needed to prevent damage to the barrel or receiver, or improve accuracy? The kit doesn't come with a block for my barrel, and I won't track one down if it is not needed.

With an OEM tapered barrel you should be alright.
Your V block takes a lot of the weight off your receiver.
